Ram Temple Ceremony Goes Green: No Single-Use Plastic, Only Compostable Tableware

The upcoming consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is not just a historic event; it’s also set to be an eco-friendly affair. In a bid to reduce environmental impact, the organizers have made a crucial decision—to serve food only in compostable plates and bowls, completely eliminating the use of single-use plastic items.

Eco-Friendly Initiative: Partnering with local company Pakka, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has ensured that every aspect of the ceremony reflects a commitment to sustainability. Pakka will provide compostable tableware, including plates, bowls, and even wooden spoons, for the event.

A Green Spread: The compostable tableware, made from sugarcane waste (bagasse), is not only sturdy but also microwave-safe and suitable for backyard composting. This eco-conscious choice is a step towards reducing the environmental impact of the ceremony, as these products decompose within 90 days, unlike traditional plastic items that can take hundreds of years to break down.

A Call to Action: The use of compostable tableware at the Ram Temple ceremony sends a powerful message and sets a positive example for future events. It’s a reminder that small changes, like opting for eco-friendly alternatives, can make a big difference in our fight against plastic pollution.

As the world looks for ways to reduce plastic waste, the Ram Temple ceremony stands out as a shining example of how simple changes can lead to significant environmental benefits. By choosing compostable tableware, the organizers have not only ensured a memorable event but also contributed to a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
